Apparently I wasn't looking at my nsswitch.conf file close enough. Sure enough, it was getting changed on reboot. I disabled nwam and statically configured my network settings the "old school" way. I rebooted, reran ldapclient, and have rebooted several times. Each time, everything is working on reboot.
