Residential DSL probably isn't the best place to host though. When new releases
come out it'll saturate your line, and I'm guessing you don't have symmetric
DSL so probably quite limited in upload.

Why not BitTorrent, and let folks spread the load? There _is_
a BitTorrent client for Solaris, AFAIK, although it's
strictly command-line. As long as you have a separate MD5
posted for the ISO, so people can verify it, that should be
good enough, and much cheaper in bandwidth for those that serve
it.

A decent client would certainly be a plus...the command line might
be good enough as an initial tracker/seed.
Transmisson works just fine, GUI and everything.
Use the package manager to install it.
I'll help seed the next release with *at least* 1MB/s from home,
I'm already paying for the bandwidth so I just as well use it ;-)
