Thanks Albert, I will look into this and see if I can get it built and
running. A functional R pkg for openindiana would be a great sell to
the academics out there. I will see if I can't put something together.

continue to use both sunfreeware and Blastwave on OpenIndiana, but I
should point out they're primarily targeted toward Solaris 10 and
earlier where proper integration with the system software was not

pkg install pkg:/runtime/tk-8 will the native packages for Tcl and Tk.
A build recipe for R is in spec-files-extra as "SFER" - see

if you're not familiar with SFE.

Is there a development package I need? Is there simply something that
needs to be added to my path?
Any help would be appreciated. I did not have this problem on my old
