206 is the "partial response" answer to a partial request. For instance, if you have half a file and you want to relaunch the download starting in the point you left, you use a "partial request" to request a given range of bytes. The reply to this is a "partial response" from the server. I guess something in the downloader is doing partial requests without understanding the "right" answer.
