Hello, As was the case for several of your recent bug reports, this happens because you are trying to run or update an old database and installation (6.0 or less) using the code of OpenERP 6.1. OpenERP supports automatic migration using `-u all` for minor versions, e.g. for updating from version X.Y.Z to X.Y.Z+1. Other kinds of migrations (like going from 6.0 to 6.1) are not supported by the built-in update engine, because they may contain arbitrary incompatible changes, such as renaming or merging modules, renaming or merging database tables, etc. (and this requires custom migration steps)
Indeed the "mail_gateway" module of OpenERP 6.0 was partially renamed to "mail" in OpenERP 6.1, but it was also heavily modified, and its data cannot be automatically migrated. In order to upgrade 6.0 -> 6.1 a proper migration must be followed, just like it was necessary for 5.0 -> 6.0.
