do you mean tax mapping of fiscal positions?
don't know in the other countries, but often in Italy, we need to select
the tax or the behaviour of this depending on a lot of things.
at the moment we use pre-configured taxes and fiscal positions provided
by the italian localizations addons.
that's enough for the most of the cases, but sometimes accounts need to
integrate journal entries by writing custom entries by hand because it's
impossibile to properly configure openerp using what provided by the core
