The mrp module includes both 'Material Requirements Planning' and 'Manufacturing'. Ideally it should be separated into 'Materials' and 'Manufacturing' modules. 'Manufacturing Resource Planning' (MRPII) would apply to the whole odoo system rather than just those modules.
