I am agreed with fabien's inquiry why not a module?

Even if you are totally disagreed with an specific featir like a view you
can change it totally as an extra module.... build a fork is a so hight
risk and dependency of one developer/partner i think... (pushing to your
direction doing exactly what you are critizicing).
