if as part of the campaign you deliver a better framework, more extensible without monky-patches/copy-paste extra features and a good documentation, everything is possible. But IMHO the Workflow part can be a big change in the core and can represent a big blocking point in the correct evolution, you should think better about this part to see how include this feature as part of the base framework improvement. I can't see feasible honestly expect it as part of a community work in the short term rewrite the algorithm of the POS to include in a clean way workflows :-( But let's see first results.
