Hello all. @Ana.
The Foundraising point is a different approach complementary to the approach proposed by Eric, let me show my point. Eric (and i think it is a good point) want to be sure that the modules included in the OCA projects are maintained by serious people that give the quality because they dedicate the time to test, verify, improve quality, It ensures less leak in terms of migration capability, future support, documentation and maintenance, helping to community to choose (from apps maybe) the modules certified by community because they have an strong team working on that. *End*. It is an approach. You (and i thin is a good "complementary" approach) are asking for new features that are so expensive to cover by one team-company even by OpenERP SA and need deep development, functional consultants, user cases and tests and will be so used, for this reason "maybe" we need a foundraising. *End*. It is "Other Approach" In line more comments. 2013/9/7 Ana Juaristi <ajuaris...@gmail.com> > HI everybody: > > My opinion is that fundraising should be made for each community project. > It can be very complicated founding something that people is contributing. > Maybe a little contribution could be needed to mantain the website or any > administrative tasks but it would be like paying a marketing site more than > contributing on modules. > I think that community should be totally open and noone can fix if > something have got enough quality to be included or not. You are asking for an open place where only with declare the module people can vote, and download and see the code and use it and complain, and put bugs, and simply take the risk. IMHO it is Launchpad + Apps.openerp.com today. *End* of point. > On technical side, as much documented, much clear code, much used module > more visibility will obtain, so more people will use it, so it will be more > tested, so more valuation will obtain. > On the other side, if someone has got a very good idea about a new > blueprint / functionality a new foundrising project could be created to > obtain founds to realize that project. > > I don't think so community modules should be fiscalized very much. > About this. IMHO i don't use modules without fiscalice internally by myself, because i don't know what I will find, i think everybody do this, you don't simply put a module in production and run, right?. IMHO the "Fiscal part" must be done as Eric is asking for and it is expensive and time consuming, maybe has a team that is in charge of this task is a good idea and between all can pay this dedicated team, why not? even if some others help by free both model do not exclude themselves. * * *End of point* > We need focusing about a place where community can download, comment, > report bugs, contribute and value other people contributions. > It is apps, and it is mantained by openERP SA, my be the hidden crowdfounding there is be partner or by services to them. > I will agree on contributing in a crowdfunding project to realize this but > I don't see very clear contributing to something to cover costs that are > not clear yet. > Ana, i am afraid on this doubt, let me give you "sorry for be so explicit here" some examples where is the work Eric is asking for (because it is almost all done by the same people today for free and we need more help ASAP) Look in: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~server-env-tools-core-editors/server-env-tools/7.0/changes/47 47 commits, "Somebody took time to do this job.", right? who pay for it? our customers and some of them for free! Look in: https://code.launchpad.net/~server-env-tools-core-editors/server-env-tools/7.0/+activereviews We have 5 MP waiting for approval and test *End of Job, it is Quality ensurance and ...... frequently it is the dirty job that nobody wants to pay for * * * *but.... Everybody criticizes .... a good example is the sorryo.... campain. * Next: Download this branch, bzr branch lp:server-env-tools sudo apt-get install cloc cd server-env-tools cloc . This is the job we can do with crowdfounding (and was crowdfounded already by our customers), but it does not ensure the quality it ensure *"The Feature"*. Kindly, I hope I clarified the difference from My point of view and help Ana to see where the founding and contribution can go and I maintain my initial point of view, it is good time to discuss, but to early to take some decision or even make some action because we have a long way in front of us yet.
