i've just posted my opinions about this topic.

i'm not a developer actually, i usually deals with plans and quotations,
so i cannot delve into technical aspects but, what i know is that
without a standard package management policy we spend too much time on
the instances management (installation, deployment, upgrades and so on).
We're happy with buildout and eggs for our
Zope/Plone/Django/Other_Python_Things projects and it seems this is the
way the python's community is used to work.
So i really hope openerp won't try to invent something new.
