So if you have some records with node.startup = automatic then iscsid
should start. In the iscsiadm output you sent originally you had that right?

Yes, though I think I had made them accidentally, fixing the problem. Would some iscsiadm command have created records with node.startup=automatic?

I reinstalled the system and the problem came back.
