According to the trace, it crashes on two drawText calls when the text is extracted. The attached patch should avoid the crash (thanks Albert for the hints), but I have some trouble trying to reproduce it, specifically how to change the mapping so that X bitmap fonts are used. Do you have the crashing environment around, or do you remember how to setup it?
