DJ Bumi Resources: KPC's Coal Output Not Hit By Kutai Shutdown JAKARTA (Dow Jones)--Kaltim Prima Coal's production isn't likely to be affected by a recent suspension of its operations in the East Kutai area, an official said over the weekend.
"Our production has been normal," Dileep Srivastava, the spokesman of PT Bumi Resources (BUMI.JK), told reporters. "We don't feel it (the shutdown) will impact our production." Bumi Resources owns a 70% stake in KPC, while India's Tata Power Co. (500400.BY) owns the rest. The regent of East Kutai regency July 11 ordered KPC and PT Bayan Resources to suspend operations in the area, claiming the two companies had built roads through the forest owned by the government without permission. It isn't known when the suspension will be lifted, as the matter is under investigation.
