Indonesia Stocks: Astra Agro, Charoen Pokphand, United Tractors

July 23 (Bloomberg) -- Indonesia's Jakarta Composite
index<http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=JCI%3AIND>declined
0.77 points, or less than 0.1 percent, to 2,211.99 as of the noon
local-time break. The following stocks are among the most active in the
Indonesian market.

Coal companies: PT Bumi
Resources<http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=BUMI%3AIJ>(BUMI
IJ), Asia's largest thermal-coal exporter, fell 350 rupiah, or 5.5
percent, to 6,000. PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA IJ), the company
that holds more than a quarter of Indonesia's coal reserves, retreated 350
rupiah, or 2.6 percent, to 13,100. Mining stocks led declines on the Jakarta
Composite index today.

A drop in oil reduced the allure of alternative fuels such as coal. Crude
oil for August delivery fell 2.4 percent to $127.95 a barrel in New York
yesterday, falling to a six-week low. Crude oil for September delivery was
at $127.64 a barrel in after-hours trading at 1:23 p.m. Singapore time.

Palm oil producers: PT Astra Agro
Lestari<http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=AALI%3AIJ>(AALI
IJ), Indonesia's largest publicly traded plantation company, dropped
900 rupiah, or 4.1 percent, to 21,000, set for its lowest close since April
3. PT Perusahaan Perkebunan London Sumatra Indonesia (LSIP IJ), the second
largest, lost 200 rupiah, or 2.7 percent, to 7,350.

Palm oil for October delivery slumped as much as 5.9 percent on the Malaysia
Derivatives Exchange today, on course for its biggest one-day drop since
April 1.

PT Aneka Tambang
<http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=ANTM%3AIJ>(ANTM IJ), an
Indonesian gold and nickel miner, slipped 100 rupiah, or 4
percent, to 2,375, on course for its lowest close since Sept. 17. Gold
futures for August delivery fell 1.6 percent to $948.50 an ounce in New York
yesterday, the lowest closing price since July 10.

PT Astra 
International<http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=ASII%3AIJ>(ASII
IJ), Indonesia's biggest auto retailer, jumped 1,100 rupiah, or 5.4
percent, to 21,600 on course for its highest close since May 21. Astra's
plan to subscribe to a rights offer by its mining and heavy equipment
subsidiary PT United Tractors will allow the company to tap the unit's
growth outlook, Goldman, Sachs & Co. wrote in a note.

PT Bank Internasional Indonesia (BNII IJ), which is being acquired by
Malaysia's biggest lender, Malayan Banking
Bhd.<http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=MAY%3AMK>,
advanced 10 rupiah, or 2.2 percent, to 475. Malayan Banking said it plans to
offer to buy the remaining shares of Bank Internasional after getting
approval for its $2.7 billion acquisition from Indonesia's central bank.

PT Bank Negara

IJ), the nation's fourth- biggest bank by assets, rose 70 rupiah, or
5.9 percent, to 1,260, set for its biggest gain since June 16. China

has expressed interest in buying as much as 20 percent of Bank Negara,
Bisnis Indonesia daily reported. Bank Negara Corporate Secretary, Intan

IJ), the nation's biggest chicken-feed maker by value, gained 40
rupiah, or 4.4 percent, to 940 after reporting its first-half profit more
than doubled to 209.6 billion rupiah.

PT United Tractors
<http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=UNTR%3AIJ>(UNTR IJ),
Indonesia's biggest heavy- equipment seller, jumped 750 rupiah,
or 7.9 percent, to 10,250, on course for its best one-day gain since March
25. United Tractors said first-half sales of Komatsu Ltd.'s vehicles rose 44
percent to 2,492 units on higher demand from the mining and agriculture
industries.
