US STOCKS-Indexes tumble 2 percent after Bernanke comments

NEW YORK, July 15 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks slid as much as 2 percent on
Tuesday after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said a weakening housing
market, tighter credit and rising oil prices threaten the economy.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 215.11 points, or 1.95
percent, to 10,840.08, while the Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> slid
25.67 points, or 2.09 percent, to 1,202.63. The Nasdaq Composite Index
<.IXIC> shed 41.88 points, or 1.89 percent, to 2,170.99.
