Tin producer PT Timah (TINS.JK) expects 2007 net profit to increase more than eight times due to a significant increase in sales, the company's chief financial officer, Krisna Sjarif, told Dow Jones Newswires Wednesday. "Net profit may increase to above IDR1.6 trillion from IDR208 billion a year earlier," Sjarif said. Sales in January to December 2007 more than doubled to IDR8 trillion from IDR4.1 trillion a year earlier, thanks to a sharp increase in commodity prices, he said without giving average price of tin that the company sold last year.
