Govt Postpones T-Bill Issuance ; --------------------------------- Thursday, 19 April 2007 15:22:06 StockWatch (Jakarta) - The Finance Ministry's director-general for debt management, Rahmat Waluyanto, said the ministry has postponed the issuance of treasury bills (T-bills) from the previous schedule of April 24, 2007.
Waluyanto said the ministry has to put off the issuance of bills since there are a number of matters which have to be coordinated including the tax regulation, the implementation regulation issued by Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Finance Minister's decree on the procedure for collecting income tax on discounted VAT which is being finalized today. "We intend to issue the bills at best, so we have decided to put off the issuance until further announcement. But we will issue the bonds soon after the rules are made," he said further. Based on the plan, the government will issue treasury bills every month with a total value of IDR3-4 trillion. The delay in issuing the bills will not affect the governemnt's debt management program for the total value of bonds issued during the first quarter of 2007 already reached IDR46 trillion.
