Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City
Monday, October 14th -

At least 18 species of migratory American Warblers were found and photographed
in Central Park for Monday. Also reported was Hooded Warbler for Monday, which
if confirmed will make for a warbler species tally of 19 species on Monday.

While some are lingering birds such as a Northern Waterthrush at The Pool, in
the parks nw sector, a fair number were new or very recent passage migrants,
among these being Chestnut-sided, Tennessee, Bay-breasted, Blackpoll, Cape May,
Magnolia, Black-throated Blue, Black-and-white, and Black-throated Green
Warblers, and American Redstart, as well as other typical species of the later
in fall season.

The early morning flight of Myrtle -also commonly called Yellow-rumped-
Warblers was impressive with high triple-digit numbers for all of the county as
well as well over 100 for Central Park, and that in just one view point,
although hardly the largest flight of that species here this autumn.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird was still showing at Central Park, with many
observers and photographers for Monday’s. White-crowned, and multiple
Lincolns Sparrows were among the native sparrow species for Monday. Many more
migrants were found on the day - at least 86 species of wild native birds were
found in Central Park on Monday, 10/14 and far more than that number in all of
the county.

Thanks to keen, quiet, courteous observers and photographers, including some
who lead guided bird walks for nonprofit organizations which support
conservation, education and sound science, and also to many independent walkers
finding birds at all hours of the day and in all sectors of the park.
...
Elsewhere on Manhattan island, Vesper Sparrow showed at Inwood Hill Park on
Sunday, Oct. 13th. And elsewhere in the same county, a somewhat late
Connecticut Warbler was photographed at Randalls Island -T. Li- on Saturday,
Oct. 12th. More recent reports out of Randalls and elsewhere in all of New York
County at a later date.

Good and peaceful birding to all,

Tom Fiore
