Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City Sunday, Sept. 29th - At least 18 species of migratory American warblers were found in the park on Sunday, with observers out and about all day and in all sectors of the park. Palm Warbler was still rather common in some sections of the park.
Thrushes still being seen included Veery, Gray-cheeked Thrush, and some Hermit Thrushes were also ongoing, with more of the latter anticipated in this coming month. Many other migrants were also still present in the park through Sunday, such as Ruby-throated Hummingbird, House Wren, Winter Wren, Blue-headed Vireo, Brown Thrasher, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and at least 5 species of native sparrows, and many, many more species. Many of the above seen with guides leading not-for-profit bird walks at varying times during Sunday, as well as by independent birders and photographers throughout the park on the day. .... On Governors Island, in N.Y. County just south of Manhattan a Dickcissel was among ongoing birds there for Sunday Sept. 29 with multiple observers and more nice photos.
