Steve Bremner found five Wood Storks at the Braddock Bay west spit this
morning. Andy Guthrie was able to refind the birds, which were standing in
the parking lot for the west spit trail, and he sent out an alert to Discord
at 10:36. The birds stayed there for another hour and a half as birders
stopped non-birders, alerting them to the presence of the storks, and they
chose not to disturb them by turning around rather than driving into the
parking lot. Eventually, the Wood Storks flew off of their own accord and
eventually headed east and presumably out of the area. This was a state bird
for my friend and a county bird for me.
