While attempting to relocate a possible red or red-necked phalarope I found yesterday afternoon, upon entering turtle cove an american bittern flushed close to me and flew 50ft into the grass and disappered.i called Richard aracil.the bittern flew back close to the waterline staying hidden.after a while it flew up again this time giving a long Ariel display while being harrased by a red-winged blackbird or 2.the possible phalarope was not found though.andrew baske thinks the bird is a red phalarope and richard A thinks its a red-necked phalarope.currently I have no computer to edit photos of the mystery bird but I will attempt to clean up the shots of what I have on the memory card.sorry for the dual long winded post.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone. --
