I myself, “gloriously dipped” on this bird though my planning and execution of
the chase would make folks like Shai cringe. It certainly was not of the
caliber that one would expect of a twitch that required an early start.
If this bird is still around, I would probably take another crack with better
planning and hopefully better luck.
In the meantime, March Birding has not been dull for me at all. I have been
throughly enjoying patch birding in Brooklyn, documenting numerous Kestrel
sightings in Manhattan Chinatown, encountering Ravens in unexpected places in
Brooklyn, getting crippling views of American Woodcocks in Bryant Park, noting
the turn over of backyard birds in Queens and Gulling. Yes, Gulling even all
the way to PA.
