The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher was still present this morning on the telephone wire by the red barn at 11:15 and vocalizing. After about ten minutes, it made a beeline for cover in a nearby deciduous tree when a Merlin swooped through the field. As of 11:35 it remained in hiding but will probably return to its perch eventually.
