Present at various locations on the mudflats east of Moriches Inlet late this morning on an incoming tide. Shorebirding was poor at Cupsogue in general, with poor numbers and variety. Before heading to Cupsogue we birded the farm fields in Riverhead. We observed Black-bellied Plover, Semipalmated Plover, Killdeer, and Least Sandpiper, but no Buff-breasted, Baird’s, or American Golden Plover. Perhaps the approaching cold front will bring them in on Thursday.
