I spent some time at Swan River Preserve in East Patchogue this afternoon. It was very quiet - however there were two (2) pairs of green-winged teal duck and I was happily surprised to find and watch a Wilson's Snipe feeding away on the south side.
Additionally, yesterday (1/21/17) I observed a merlin on Bay Avenue, near the Great South Bay. I presume this is the neighborhood Merlin that has hungout in this area the past few winters. -- - Luke Instagram: @JrookPhotos <https://www.instagram.com/jrookphotos/?hl=en> Website: Luke Ormand and & JRookPhotos <http://www.lukeormand.zenfolio.com> -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME.htm http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES.htm http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birding.aba.org/maillist/NY01 Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
