I spent some time at Swan River Preserve in East Patchogue this afternoon.
It was very quiet - however there were two (2) pairs of green-winged teal
duck and I was happily surprised to find and watch a Wilson's Snipe feeding
away on the south side.

Additionally, yesterday (1/21/17) I observed a merlin on Bay Avenue, near
the Great South Bay. I presume this is the neighborhood Merlin that has
hungout in this area the past few winters.
