Thursday, 29 December, 2016 - Van Cortlandt Park, western Bronx (N.Y. City)

A Pink-footed Goose was again found today (in the rain) on the Parade Grounds field adjacent to Broadway (which is north of about West 246 Street) - this species and the many Canada Geese often moving about on the field, can be on other areas of the large field, but this late morning, were nearer to the south edge - the other areas to look could be the lake, & perhaps farther outlying sections of this large (but more wooded than not) park. A Cackling (Richardson's type) and a Snow Goose may be in the flock[s] as well, but not all of these geese are constantly in just one group.

Good luck if you try; please give geese enough space to feed (and not flush due to any birder activity), thanks!

good birding,

Tom Fiore
