Before the blizzard became a sure thing, I'd planned to head up to Central Park today to try again for the Orange-crowned Warbler and to add a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker to my year list. Needless to say, I opted to postpone my afternoon of birding. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to look out my window onto W. 23rd Street this morning to find a male YBWP had literally right to my front door. Just outside my window, in a small tree with a few remaining berries, there one was - vigorously foraging for berries, and occasionally tapping on the trunk. He's now been there for several hours, along with four white-throated sparrows who seem equally determined to make a meal of the frozen berries.
I am now waiting for the Orange-crowned to show up.. ;-) Amy Simmons NYC -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
