Highlights: Dickcissel (female) at East Blowdown Meadow (between the Pool and 
the Great Hill), 4 warbler sp. & Sora. 

Gadwall - at least 4 at the Meer
Northern Shoveler - at least 5 at the Meer
Bufflehead - 3 at the Meer, 2 at the Pool
Ruddy Duck - 5 at the Meer
Cooper's Hawk - flyover
Sora - continues at the Loch
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
American Kestrel - perched on west side building
Eastern Phoebe - Wildflower Meadow (thanks to Peter Haskel)
American Crow - 2
Tree Swallow - flyover at the Meer another or the same over the Great Hill
Black-capped Chickadee - Green Bench
Winter Wren - 2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 5
Hermit Thrush - 6
Cedar Waxwing - flock of around 25 - various locations
Orange-crowned Warbler - Loch
Nashville Warbler - Wildflower Meadow
Northern Parula - Loch
Blackpoll Warbler - Loch
Eastern Towhee - male
Chipping Sparrow - a few before the walk at Fort Clinton
Song Sparrow - 3
White-throated Sparrow - around 50
Dark-eyed Junco - around 20

Brown-headed Cosbird - before walk
House Finch - 8 before walk

The Sora greedily devoured the unsalted peanuts (broken into small pieces) that 
I gave him today. Outside the breeding season Soras are mostly granivorous. 
They eat wild rice, smartweet seeds, and weed seeds. Smartweed is in the 
buckwheat family, and I'm sure the bird would appreciate some buckwheat groats 
(kasha), wild or brown rice, or even bird seed.
