The blue wing-tagged Great Egret at the Coxsackie Creek Grasslands photographed last Friday is confirmed to have come from Ontario, Canada as reported by Chip Weseloh. Many thanks to Larry Federman for recalling an earlier post put out by Chip.
>From Chip: "All bandings in those years have been at Nottawasaga Island about 90 miles NW of Toronto near the town of Collingwood, ON, on the south end of Georgian Bay, Lake Huron. " The grasslands preserve is in eastern Greene County, New York, about 120 miles north of NYC. This sighting provides interesting data about the migration and distribution patterns of Great Egrets in the northeast. -- Richard Guthrie New Baltimore The Greene County (year-round) New York -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
