This morning in Riverhead I had an adult bald eagle behind the aquarium - and apparently there was a subadult that had been there as well not too long before I arrived. About 30 minutes later, further west along the River were two sub-adults soaring high in the sky. I've heard there is at least one more adult near the aquarium as well - probably 5-8 BE's in that area on any given day.
Also in Riverhead along the Peconic River at the fishing access station (just west of Roadhouse Pizza) were red-necked grebes on Saturday. None were present this morning, but plenty of wood ducks and common mergansers, among other waterfowl.
