Or West End 2 -- Jones Beach, of course. One moving through over the median
at 11:30, then out towards the inlet. These second one, a dark morph,
appeared southeast of the parking lot at 12:15, passed south of the lot,
then swung around to the area of the fisherman's parking lot to the Coast
Guard station, where it hunted for about 10 minutes, before disappearing.
Funny, but all that open area of the West End has never seemed to appeal to
Rough-leggeds over the years -- they just seem to pass through. The areas
along the Meadowbrook Parkway have done a better job at that, and the one I
saw at 1:00 on the northeast side of the southernmost bridge could have been
that same dark morph bird.
