A non birding trip to Long Island allowed me to stop at Jones Beach where I saw
a few notables that included 1 Lapland Longspur in the West End II parking lot,
feeding with a flock of about 17 Horned Larks.

Near the second exit from that lot were 2 American Pipits. There was no sign of
the Common Ground-Dove but I did not put much effort into looking, so there is
a good chance it is still hanging in.

Later, a brief cruise by Baisley Pond in Queens, I noted several Redheads so
they are back and building up. The pond is pretty open so waterfowl have plenty
of room to hide. A decent number of Northern Shovelers continue for this time
of the year with the other winter arrivals like Ring-necked Ducks.

Eric Miller called in to report that the Wilson's Warbler at Kissena Park
continued at least through yesterday. It apparently has been around since
November 11th according Stephane Perrault's eBird report from the 15th of
November (http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S20558882)

This is a good find and coupled with Eric's Black-and-white Warbler from
Kissena Corridor on Sat November 15th, is a good reminder to keep checking all
those micro habitat spots that have in the past held winter goodies.

Cheers,
