I looked for the Brewer's Blackbird that I found yesterday in the Town of
Porter between 9:30 and 10:30. There were a couple mixed blackbird and
Starling flocks around, though they seemed smaller than yesterday's flock.
Unfortunately, except for a few Starlings and a pair of Cowbirds, none of
them flew into the pasture to feed while I was there. I tried looking at
the birds in the trees but it was difficult with backlighting, branches, and
wind. I saw one RUSTY BLACKBIRD.

Returning directly home (well, about as directly as a birder can), I stopped
at a wet field along Youngstown-Wilson Road and had 11 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS.
My other stop was at the Wilson piers, where there were still numbers of
CASPIAN (about 40) and COMMON TERNS (about 20). The big surprise here, even
more surprising than yesterday's Brewer's Blackbird, was a record-early
SANDERLING. As far as I am aware, this is the earliest in Kingbird Region 1
by over a month. This time I got photos. J

A photo or two of the Sanderling will be up on my Flickr site shortly:

Good birding!
