Since I was in Riverhead this afternoon, I thought I would go out to
Cutchogue and see if the birds were still around.

I went north on Cox Lane to the end(There is no sign post indicating
Oregon Rd. so I turned Left (West), and after a few hundred yards, I saw two
cars parked off the road on the right (North) and two men standing a little
up a private road, with binoculars and a scope,so I stoped there and asked
if they saw anything, and they showed me the two Western Kingbirds, sitting
on separate metal posts in the plowed field, only about 50 yards away.
Obviously we had great views for a couple of hours as they stayed right in
this
area, sometimes closer and some time further, perching on the fence posts,
flying out to try and catch something, sometimes on the plowed field, and
flew back. While one bird went to sit on trees about 200 yards north, they
always came back.

In fact they were still there when the sun started to go down, and
hopefully will be there tomorrow.

The flock of white crowned sparrows were also there,in the bushes, on the
ground and the trees.
