With thanks to Bob Gerdts, (who found the birds yesterday) today, from 9 to
9:25 AM, I observed the Western Kingbirds at the same spot Bob had
first seen them - namely, n/s Oregon Rd., at the intersection of Cox La.,
Cutchogue. While both birds had olive on the back, one seemed to have more
than the other, possibly making it a juvenile. Both birds spent all of the
time I was there dropping off a snow fence post (fence itself not up yet)
down to the ground to feed, then back to a post (usually the same one).
Also, during my entire stay, one of the kingbirds only "hawked" to the e/o
Cox La., while the other stayed w/o the intersection.

There were also at least 3 adult White-crowned Sparrows at the road/
hedgerow just to the w/o the fence posts.

Cheers,
Bob .
