Highlights of a stroll around Bryant park about 3:30pm: American
Woodcock poking
around for the ground in the SE maintenance area, good views from the SE
park entrance side. Pretty calm bird; a park worker dragged some trash
bags past him, and he flinched but did not flush to deeper cover. Palm
Warbler on the southern part of the lawn where about 18 Song Sparrows were
also working; the Palm came closer to the path than the sparrows liked.
Three Hermit Thrush, two at the maintenance area, one in the southern lawn
border.

Central Park this morning had (along with the usual suspects) both kinds
of kinglet around the Upper Lobe, and Chipping Sparrows at Evodia. No
warblers for me. The Titmousoi seem to have moved out at last--saw only
three, all at the feeders.

Yesterday evening I saw a bat flying around the Upper Lobe a bit before
sunset. I don't know about bats--it was small, body a bit shorter but
rather thicker than the Phoebes who were also flycatching in the area.

Good birding,
