Having missed a better than silhouette view of WW Crossbills at Montauk
Point for visiting birder Carlos Sanchez, we went to Heckscher stpk in
western suffolk county yesterday. The large flock of both Red and
White-winged Crossbills remain in the pines between fields 7 & 8.
The Lapland Longspur was not re-located, but we did happen across a
Clay-colored Sparrow on the west side of field 7, with numerous Am Tree
Sparrows and Savannah Sparrows.
