I had a male Rose-breasted Grosbeak (with a partial rose breast) at the
south end of the Bronx Botanical Gardens on December 26, 1982 on the
Bronx/Westchester CBC. It was not at a feeder. It should be on Ebird - I
uploaded it with most of my other records a couple of years ago.

Eric Miller, Jean Loscalzo and I responded to a report early this morning
from Danny Melore who reported observing a Grosbeak near the Water Hole at
Forest Park Queens. I should note and thank Karlo Mirth, who immediately
upon receiving word got me on the phone and it was his call and Eric's that
had me on site in minutes.

We three (Jean Eric and I), while debriefing Danny, got looks at the bird
and confirmed the ID to be a Rose-breasted Grosbeak. eBird has the latest
date of this species in our area documented in November; however, Bull's
Birds of New York State, does mention later sightings that go into December,
especially from CBC reports of birds lingering at feeders, but does not
specify any dates.

A good find by Danny; too bad it did not make the Queens CBC count. For
those interested, some photos of the RGBR (Rose-breasted Grosbeak) are
posted here
