Today, Bob Hayes and I went to locate the Tufted Duck, arriving 5 min after another birder on location said it had been spooked by a returning boat.  We did see it, but a bit north of its favored location.

We re-located the bird in the company of a second female type bird; the distance of which in the scope made the ID a challenge enough for the TUDU; I cannot say one way or another with personal certainty if the female was another TUDU as had been reported, or a female of a different species, fwiw.

The birds were just south of the Huntington Yacht Club.  We tried to relocate there and get better views but the ducks had again relocated before we could secure an adequate vantage point.

see map http://goo.gl/maps/GPExu   for locations specified.

Lloyd Spitalnik and I looked for the previously reported Tufted Duck in Huntington today from about 12-230pm.
We were not able to locate it.
If spotted in the AM tomorrow please let the list know, would like to give it another go.

Good Birding!
