Good afternoon, I have received a number of complaints over the past few weeks concerning the increasing use of four-letter abbreviations of bird species being reported in postings to NYSbirds-L.
Out of consideration for most of the recipients on this eList, please do not use abbreviated bird names when you make your postings. This only adds to the confusion, both to readers who are subscribed to this eList and to those who are browsing any of the Web archives. By spelling out the names of the bird species being reported in postings to NYSbirds-L, this will eliminate all possible confusion and misunderstanding. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me off-list. Thank you very much!
