A LINCOLN'S SPARROW was the highlight of the hour or so I spent around the wetland along Co Rt 6 in Volney, Oswego County. It was bouncing around the brush near an old log that is half submerged just off the road on the north-west side of the marsh - near the abandoned house.
Other birds of interest were: 7 species of waterfowl including the Trumpeter Swans, both species of TEAL and a female NORTHERN PINTAIL 8 or 9 GREEN HERONS 20+ COMMON GALLINULES 3 LEAST SANDPIPERS 5 species of swallow - including at least 1 CLIFF SWALLOW 1 BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER in the spruce in front of the abandoned house. In the morning on the way up, there was a GREAT EGRET again at the pond at the golf course along Rt 49 in West Monroe, but it was not there when I passed on my way back.
