Unfortunately, since I was on a tight schedule, I couldn't entertain the thought of getting off the train at Croton. I had to be in Albany to do my radio show. And, as it was, because of additional delays north of Poughkeepsie (trees down on the tracks), I made it to the studio with only minutes to spare. My question: was the bird in a place where it might be seen from the train: was intended to offer some help to others who might be passing through while facing similar constraints. As for me, I'll just have to be content with seeing several Bald Eagles, Ospreys, and two Snowy Egrets in with Great Egrets along the Hudson as the Amtrak train crawled north on CSX rails; and, having seen N. Wheatear elsewhere in NY State. Once in the HUGE parking lot for the train station (in a car or on foot), go to the extreme south end, so you can't go any further or you'd be in the water. You'll pass all the commuters' cars, and then probably some empty parking lot space (keeping the tracks to your right). You'll pass the large shed and arrive at the very small parking lot at the end by the small boat ramp, where the bird has been seen. Good luck!
