I observed the GHGU 3 Aug 11 with a good friend, we noticed the Gray hooded
gull and many Laughers preferred to show up at mid day, it was very hot with
many bathers on the beach, eating snacks and their mid day lunches.
That gull and all the other LAGUs are opportunistic feeders. They have figured
out people feed the gulls.
The Laughers like drinking fresh water from the palm tree fountain + the cold
water spray must be refreshing, I know it was for me and others sitting
downwind:)
I noticed, left of the bath houses there are 2 roof-covered sitting buildings,
with set of stairs leading down to the beach. At the top of the stairs is a
yellow hose for cleaning your feet off. If the fountain isn't on, maybe
someone could fashion the trigger to stay on, and shoot it out onto the beach
for "gull fresh water". Bring some "chum".
Just a thought. Good Luck seeing this wonderful gull :).

A BIG thank you goes out to the folks who saw and photographed it and got the
word out so quickly.
