At 4 PM today 3 Redheads (2 males, 1 female) were on the pond immediately
west of the main entrance on Grumman Blvd. The pond is largely frozen
except for a small patch of open water immediately behind the community
center. The open water is easily viewed from the community center parking
lot. In addition to the redheads there were 130 or so Canada Geese, 5
Mallards and 4 American Widgeon and a Harrier was working the margins of the
pond. In the fading light, I birded the fence line east of the community
center toward the main entrance and thus missed the Lark Sparrow. At dusk I
stopped at the overlook of the southwest runways and had 5 Eastern Bluebirds
perched on the fence.
