Hello All. There was a dearth of land birds on the barrier island at
Smith Point this morning. But the ocean was pretty lively with 30 or so Red
throated Loons and a constant movement of Scoters and Northern Gannets. I
had FOS Horned Grebe and the first sizeable raft of Bufflehead Duck,[85].,
on Bellport Bay. A FOS Red Crossbill flew round the traffic circle ,calling
just as I was returning to my truck. Late in the day I watch 58 Red Throated
Loon pass the Ranger Station. I discovered a pair of American Widgeon just
east of the bay bridge and 2, first winter male, Harlequin ducks flew west
close to shore. Good November Birding, Carl Starace
