A cool morning resulted in a modest flight of birds again dominated by
Yellow-rumped Warblers. At RMSP Field Two 12 flyby Pine Siskins were recorded.
Overall species diversity seemed low, perhaps a reflection of the advancing
fall season. Eastern Phoebes again made a good showing, with 110 being observed
from RMSP to WE2. The previously reported American Avocet was not seen at the
West End Marina, and shorebird numbers on the sandbar were unimpressive, due in
part to a fair amount of Merlin activity. At the swale at WE2 I flushed my FOS
Lapland Longspur, which headed off in a westerly direction.
