Even though the first significant rain has only just reached the South Fork of
Long Island (Suffolk), there are exciting numbers of LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS.
My total so far this AM is 21 at three spots (8 Mecox Inlet, 10 Sagg Mains, 3
Maidstone GC) including 12 juveniles.

I'd recommend checking your local playing fields, parking lots, beach fronts
etc - anywhere gulls like to hang out.

Be advised that there are also plenty of fresh Herring & Great BB Gulls, so
care is warranted in identifying juvs and subads.
