I opened the window wide this morning and listened intently for a few
minutes, hoping for warbler song. I heard an Ovenbird, but nothing else.
Later I heard a Yellow across the street. Then, just after 11:30, there was
a brief rain shower, lasting maybe 5 minutes. Shortly after it ended all
hell broke loose (all heaven would be more accurate). Warblers were singing
from the treetops in and all around my yard. Over the next half hour I saw
or heard the following 10 species:

Nashville 1
N. Parula - 1
Yellow 1
Chestnut-sided 1
Magnolia 1
Black-throated Blue 1
Black-throated Green - 3
Blackburnian 1-2
Blackpoll 2-3
Ovenbird 1

That flurry increased my yard warbler list for the year by over 2X.
I can only hope it's also a good omen for Great South Bay Audubon's annual
field trip to Doodletown, Mine Road, and Bashakill this weekend which I'm
co-leading.
