16 , 2009

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

11/21: At the Knos-Marsellus overlook the following birds were seen. 2
ROSS’S GEESE, 1 CACKLING GOOSE, 1 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, and 14 SANDHILL
CRANES. At VanDyne-Spoor Road 16 SANDHILL CRANES were spotted and at the
mucklands along Rt. 31 10 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen.
11/22: At the mucklands a ROSS’S GOOSE and a CACKLING GOOSE were spotted.
From the Knox-Marsellus overlook a ROSS’S GOOSE was found.
Onondaga County

A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE found last week at Van Buren Park south of
Baldwinsville was seen daily up to 11/20 but has not been seen since.
Madison County
------------
11/19: A RED-NECKED GREBE was found at Woodman Pond.
Oneida County
------------
11/22: A large group of up to 4000 SCAUP was observed at Sylvan Beach. The
group is mostly (90%) LESSER SCAUP. Also seen were a pair of REDHEAD and a pair
of WHITE-WINGED SCOTER.
